Company foundations
Genkiosk company founders James Oladujoye and Zaffar Iqbal shared a vision: developing a system that harnessed the Internet to manage Intelligent Devices. Quickly they realised that the graphic nature of their business was going to play an increasingly important role and that it would change how people managed, supported and crucially visualised key information. The two met in the late 1980’s whilst at college and by the early 1990’s the excitement gained pace and they were keen to commercialise their dream. They eventually realised that the only way to take their ideas forward was to create their own company.

In 1997 CML, later to be called GWD Media, worked with a simple premise: how could the Internet be used to monitor and manage Intelligent Devices? Three years later they launched a new product called Genkiosk that allowed consumers to pay to surf the web. Public-access device management continues to be at the core of Genkiosk and has been developed to be a much more powerful product. With real world experience and thousands of users, Genkiosk is a proven thoroughbred among management systems. All you need is a web browser!

Setting industry standards
Building on its success in the late nineties, GWD Media expanded into the manufacture of Internet and information kiosks to help supply a need in the local European market. GWD Media continued to evolve the groundbreaking Genkiosk application, which redefined the quality and complexity of information that can be managed from within a browser. Later Genkiosk was extended to include Incident Management (fault management) and workflows (through Schemas).

Enterprise solutions
As the demand for Genkiosk has skyrocketed, GWD Media has been the catalyst for moving ideas from concept through creation to delivery. The appointment of Roger Mathers as GWD Media'’s Chief Executive Officer in 2006 further strengthened the company’s market leadership, as the company delivered on strategies to move from a kiosk software manufacture to a platform provider for enterprises. With its acquisition of Simple Internet in 2004 – developer of leading edge Flash enabled applications and web development – GWD Media expanded its strong technology foundation and portfolio of customer solutions..

Today Genkiosk is a platform built around Microsoft .net technology that greatly enhances how people monitor and manage their Intelligent Device networks. Genkiosk’s technology platform will be enhanced by the imminent release of its SDK.
